Mapping Drawings to a File

Go to: Models tab>select model under Model Name>Drawings>

The Map Drawings function allows you associate (map) a specific configuration to a specific drawing. Each configuration can be mapped to only one drawing. However, multiple configurations can be mapped to the same drawing.

You can use the keyword/custom property $PRP@3DPSDRAWINGFILE in the SolidWorks design table. This allows you to map models to drawings for parametric configuration. You can also have the $PRP@3DPSDRAWINGFILE parameter value change dynamically with other parameters in the design table.  See Model Builders Overview for usage details.

To map a configuration to a specific drawing:

  1. On the left panel, select a category.

  2. On the right panel, select the model.

The Attributes dialog box and a graphic preview of the model is displayed.

  3. Select Drawings to display the Map [name of model] Drawings dialog box that lists the models configurations.

The part must have multiple configurations and be associated with at least two drawings.

  4. Select the appropriate configuration.

If you want to map multiple configurations to a single drawing, select all the configurations.

  5. Select an item for Select a Drawing.

The check box next to the appropriate configuration is cleared and the drawing is mapped to the appropriate configuration.

  6. Click Save.
